Deep in the Valley (2009)

On the very cusp of being brought onto the Hit Television Show Parks and Rec Chris Pratt (Lester Watts) played the leading role in this little gem with Brendan Hines (Carl). Were it not for Amazon Prime’s need to fill out their platform this author may have never seen it at all! Rotten Tomatoes gave it 25% so if your pallet simply can’t take it, don’t watch it, and for that matter, stop reading.

But if you like terrible movies that offer little explanation for the zany scenes and terrible plot twists, this movie is for you. If you want to see the outline of Scott Caan’s (Rod Cannon) custard slinger, this movie is for you. If you want to see Kim Kardashian (Summa Eve) and Denise Richards (Autumn Bliss).

The plot is basically that Pratt (Lester) and Hines (Carl) get sucked into an alternate dimension where everyone is a porn star. Because of that, the plot lines, premises, and character development are as simple as can be. Chocked with awkward near sexual encounters, full body shots of scantily clad objectified women, and repeated blows to the genitals (for poor Lester) this movie feels like a daydream one might have had as a hormone addled adolescent boy.

For those of you that are still reading, the script and execution are not the least bit shy about being sexist, chauvinist, a wee bit racist (Tracy Morgan plays a character called Busta Nut), and pretty ridiculous. There’s not even much romance on screen, although there is an unrated version with more nudity as well as nude commentary.

Writer Director Christian Forte is only credited on two other movies: Albino Alligator (1997) which Roger Ebert gave Two Stars, and Kill for Me (2013). The producers on this project (Bryan Brucks, Judd Payne, Geoff Pence, and Matthew Rhodes) also brought us other whimsical nonsense such as Southland Tales (2006) and Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse (2015).

Anyway, if you’ve made it here: watch the movie out of sheer curiosity, and remember that Chris Pratt cashed this check. Don’t let him forget that he was in this movie.

I write for fun with terrible capitalization and awful grammar.
